I am writing to draw your attention to the recent safety report issued by Health Canada concerning enduring sexual dysfunction as a result of SSRI and SNRI antidepressants [see www.pssdcanada.ca].

I will be closely following what actions Health Canada takes to quickly require up-dating of patient safety information for SSRI/SNRI antidepressants, as well as what measures are taken to ensure that doctors and their patients are given full information so that they can make properly informed consent on whether or not to use these drugs.

While I realize that the pandemic is top priority these days, this issue of a potential health risk from antidepressant use is timely and relevant given that many Canadians are seeking mental health help.

Will you instruct Health Canada to quickly up-date the product safety information for SSRI/SNRI antidepressants and to ensure that this updated information is communicated to healthcare professionals? Will you request Health Canada to initiate the needed studies?
