Yassie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and has a Masters Degree in Social Work from UBC. She is a counsellor at Everywoman's Health Centre which offers a variety of reproductive health care services. She also operates her own counselling practice and is passionate about sexual health and mental health advocacy.

“I work with folks with PSSD from a trauma-informed approach, which aims to acknowledge and validate people's experiences. I understand that many folks with PSSD have extreme difficulty with finding healthcare providers who truly listen and take the time to understand their experience. In counselling, I aim to listen deeply and hold space with compassion, curiosity, and care - and counteract the systemic minimization and dismissal that people with PSSD all too frequently encounter. I aim to support people with whatever is most personally meaningful to them, which can range from understanding and validating their experience with PSSD, taking positive action, or navigating conversations with other healthcare professionals, family, and friends with respect to PSSD. I understand that PSSD can deeply impact one's identity and self worth, and can be an immense loss and often includes a grieving process. I appreciate that the lack of awareness about PSSD in healthcare and in society, as well as the shame and stigma associated with PSSD, often compound the suffering and contribute to an experience of isolation. I understand that this experience can be much more distressing than the anxiety or depression that people initially sought SSRI/SNRI treatment for, and I believe sufferers need to be radically validated, and the depth of the loss needs to be acknowledged. People with PSSD have a right to feel rage, devastation, grief, confusion, and any other emotion that may come with their experience.” - Yassie Pirani

“If you have PSSD like me, Yassie will not gaslight you, nor will she deny your condition. She is very well informed as to what PSSD is, and will listen to your story with compassion and understanding. Each of us have a different relationship to this particular iatrogenic illness, and I can not think of a better therapist to be telling my story to than Yassie. As someone who has had PSSD for 12 years, and has seen multiple therapists along my journey, Yassies authenticity and insight is unparalleled.” -Roy, PSSD sufferer
